Searching for Meaning After the Death of God

This is a workshop I gave at the 2018 National Student Conference in Johnson City, TN.

Searching for Meaning After the Death of God: Lessons in History, Philosophy, Pop Culture and Scripture to Cure the Angst from our Secular Age – In the late 1800s, philosopher Fredrick Nietzsche declared that God was dead.  Following that, the 20th century was the bloodiest in history as totalitarian ideologies created kingdoms that slaughtered millions.  What are the implications for the rejection of God?  Where do people find meaning and purpose? Are we living on borrowed time, believing in morals and ethics absent their God-given foundation?  Further, how did we get to this place in our culture?  We will seek answers through dabbling in history and philosophy, as well as some illustrations form pop culture.
